Auf den Strich: group exhibition at FREIRAUM

Saturday 12 September

We are part of it: at the group exhibition “Auf den Strich” at FREIRAUM we design a small reading corner and present a lettering programme with Martin Henze, our project lead for calligraphy and lettering art. Between letters, lines and spaces, a place to linger and discover takes shape. Martin Henze brings the art of lettering into the exhibition, a craft full of expression, patience and a feel for form. Come by and meet Martin in person: he is on site on 19 and 26 September. Talk with him about his work and find out what Denk.Mal is planning at Trift 32 in the near future, a meeting point for calligraphers from the region, with workshops, hands-on lettering art and real exchange. The exhibition runs from 12 to 27 September 2026. You can find the opening hours at freiraumcelle.de.

In einem anderen Licht: Paradise Lost, paintings by Dorothea Stockmar

Friday 2 October, 4:00 pm

A living room exhibition at Denk.Mal e.V., where art is a guest. Dorothea Stockmar shows paintings responding to John Milton’s »Paradise Lost« of 1667. “Dorothea’s paintings do not simply illustrate John Milton’s poem; rather, they emerge alongside it. Here, the encounter between text and image returns us to the questions at the heart of Milton’s poem: how we perceive, how we judge, and how, in the act of seeing, we may find ourselves newly implicated in the worlds we seek to understand.” That is how Dr Caleb Froehlich of the University of St Andrews puts it. The opening is on Friday, 2 October 2026 at 4 pm, the exhibition runs until 25 October 2026 at Trift 32. There is a reading in the middle of the run: on Monday, 19 October 2026 at 5 pm, „Begegnung zwischen den Welten. Was uns über den Tod hinaus verbindet”, on what connects us beyond death. Admission is free. More about the artist at stockmar-kunst.de.
