It all begins on Friday, 2 October, at 4 pm with the opening of Dorothea Stockmar’s exhibition. She is the first in a new format, the living room exhibition: an artist gets one of the rooms of our house that are furnished like living rooms for a month, so her pictures do not hang in a white gallery space but where you can sit down and stay a while. Under the title “In einem anderen Licht: Paradise Lost”, Dorothea Stockmar shows pictures on John Milton’s poem of 1667, until 25 October. On Monday, 19 October, at 5 pm she reads in her exhibition. Admission is free.
A film at the Long Night of Democracy
On the same evening, together with Aller(t)räume, we are showing the documentary “Ankommen” at the Long Night of Democracy at the VHS Celle, from 5 to 9 pm. It was made around the celebration “Ankommen. Verbunden. Engagiert.”, when women from more than 30 countries came together at Trift 32 in August.
Learning German on Saturdays
From 10 October we offer a German course for all levels, from beginners to exam preparation. Teacher Gisela Gehl teaches on ten Saturdays until 12 December, from 11 am to 12.30 pm. Each session costs 10 euros, and the course runs once six people have signed up. Register at info@denkmalcelle.de.
A week-long game lab
During the autumn holidays, the house becomes a game lab. At the “Game Jam! Mach deine Kunst zum Spiel” young people spend a week from 12 October developing their own digital games. All places are taken, but on Sunday, 18 October, we invite everyone to the closing party to try out the games.
And after that
If you would like a stall at the second International Celle Christmas Market on 29 November, please register by 15 October at jessy@denkmalcelle.de. All dates are listed under Events.
“This house already took in people who were new to Celle back in 1765,” says Zandra Gröschner Rico del Valle. “We want people to be able to arrive here, join in and realise their own ideas, whatever language they speak. Art is the best bridge for that.”
