On the evening of 21 August, women from more than 30 countries came together at Trift 32 to celebrate the close of “Ankommen.Verbunden.Engagiert” (Arriving. Connected. Engaged.), a project about women who have found a home in Celle and now support others themselves.
Film, photographs and a tree made of cards
At 6 pm the film and the photographs were shown in public for the first time. Filmmaker Brittany Alaine shaped a short film from personal interviews, and Roman Thomas portrayed around twenty women, many of them where they live, work or volunteer. Each picture comes with a short personal message.
Then everyone wrote. All participants filled in cards under the motto “This is what I want to say thank you for”, and the cards grew into a “tree of appreciation”. Guests were invited to add cards of their own.
From 7.30 pm the presentation turned into a networking party. The women celebrated their personal anniversaries of arriving in Celle, and a young DJ from the town played music. The idea behind the evening fits into one sentence: women supporting women.
The film travels on
On 2 October we are showing “Ankommen” together with Aller(t)räume at the Long Night of Democracy at the VHS Celle, from 5 to 9 pm. Anyone who missed the evening in August can see the film there.
The project was funded by the district of Celle and the town of Celle. It was created in cooperation with Aller(t)räume, the Celle immigration agency and the coordination office for integration and participation. Thank you to everyone who shared their story.
